Chicago Steel News Release

Bensenville, IL—The USHL and Central Scouting Service released a list of thirty-three hockey players with USHL roots who are listed in the mid-season ranking of NHL prospects by the Central Scouting Service. This list contained two current Chicago Steel players, forward Matt McIlvane and goaltender Adam D'Alba.

The Central Scouting Service rates players in four groupings; players skating in North America, goaltenders playing in North America, skaters in Europe and goalies in Europe. This list is used by NHL teams, as they prepare for the annual entry draft.

Matt McIlvane is a center for the Steel, who hails from Naperville, IL. Matt is in his first season with the Chicago Steel and will play for the Ohio State Buckeyes starting in the fall of 2004. He is tied for second on the team in scoring with 13 goals, 30 points, and 45 PIM in 36 games. McIlvane was ranked #155th among North American Skaters. He is 6'0" and 200 lbs, his size and skill around the net makes him an attractive power forward.

Adam D'Alba, the third season goalie from Glencoe, IL; will be suiting up for the Brown University Bears this fall. He has enjoyed a successful season; he is currently ranked as 10th among goaltending leaders in the USHL. In 22 games played, Adam has a 2.64 goals against average and a .919 saves percentage. D'Alba was the goaltender of the month for October and was named an alternate goaltender for the USHL Prospects/All-Star game. Adam was ranked #20 among North American goalies.

The NHL Entry Draft is being held in Raleigh, NC this June. The Chicago Steel has 6 alumni who have been drafted by a National Hockey League club.
