Two-Out Hits Sink WhiteWings

Harlingen, TX - The Edinburg Coyotes (19-26) scored seven two-out runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to beat the Harlingen WhiteWings (15-30) 12-4 tonight at Harlingen Field.

The WhiteWings got on the board in the second against John Maschino (2-3). Argelis Nunez led off with a walk and moved to second when Ryan Fox walked. A wild pitched moved the runners up and Anthony Slagle hit into an RBI-fielder's choice to make it 1-0.

The Coyotes took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third against Todd Lutz (2-2). Robert Matlock walked and Daryl Jones singled. Two outs later, Logan Wood hit his sixth home run of the season.

Daryl Jones hit a two-run double in the fourth to give the Coyotes a 5-1 lead.

With two outs in the fifth, Wood and Alex Entrekin singled. Angelo Fermin followed with a two-run double to knock out Lutz and make it 7-1.

In the top of the seventh, Entrekin walked against Bobby Darling and Fermin doubled. Gonzalez followed with a two-run single to make it 9-1.

The WhiteWings rallied in the bottom of the seventh. Nunez led off with a single. One out later, Terry Roblez and Slagle drew walks to load the bases. Carl Johnson hit an RBI-ground out. Amadeo Zazueta followed with a two-run single to knock out Maschino with the score 9-4 Coyotes.

In the ninth, Fermin led off with a triple. One out later, Roche hit an RBI-single. A Matlock single knocked Darling out of the game. Chris Street came in and gave up an RBI-single to Jones followed by an RBI-fielder's choice by Mayobanex Santana to cap the scoring at 12-4.

The WhiteWings open the second half of the season tomorrow night against Amarillo at 6:05 p.m. Right-hander Alex Gett (1-6) will face left-hander Jesse Rodriguez (0-3).
