
Two More Blizzard Players Move up to AFL

The Green Bay Blizzard has announced that two more players have signed contracts with an AFL team, raising the total number of players from the 2006 American Champion Blizzard to move up to the AFL to a league leading 9 players.
WR/DB Luke Leverson (6'0", 185 Minnesota), who played a vital role in helping the Blizzard make the ArenaCup in Puerto Rico last season signed a contract to play for the Dallas Desperados of the AFL. Luke is an experienced arena player. He has also played for the New Orleans VooDoo and Georgia Force before coming to Green Bay last year.
This past season Luke was a catalyst in all aspects of the game. On the offensive end, Leverson caught 56 passes for 842 yards and 11 touchdowns. Luke was impressive returning kickoffs as well, notching 1087 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, he had one interception with 16 passes broken up.
Coach Doug Lytle comments on Leverson's contributions, "Luke was an important player for us last season with a vast knowledge of the game. It is always great to see such a quality person move up to the next level."
OL/DL Darian Tate (6'3", 280 Northern Illinois) joined the Blizzard late in the season, helping the team to reach ArenaCup7. Tate signed a contract with the Austin Wranglers of AFL. Tate was a member of one of the best lines in the af2. The Blizzard had the best rushing offense in the league, averaging 39.2 yards per game and 46 touchdowns.
With these signings, the total number of 2006 Blizzard players signing contracts with an AFL team is 9.

The Green Bay Blizzard season is coming up shortly. The regular season starts on the road at expansion Fort Wayne Fusion, with the Blizzard making their 2007 home debut on April 13th against the Manchester Wolves.
