Two More Added to Rough Riders Roster

Peoria Rough Riders News Release


The Peoria Rough Riders and Head Coach/Director of Player Personnel Chuck Goodwin announce the signings of LB Adell Hawks and WR Neal Sherbeyn today.

Adell "Peanut" Hawks (5' 10", 220 lbs.) joins the Rough Riders after playing the last two years with NCAA Div. 2 Bemidji State University. Adell, a two-time letter winner, played in every game during his 2 years with Beavers. During that span Bemidji State went 16-5 and in 2004 the Beavers defense was ranked 5th in the nation. Hawks was also a member of the track team, which won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference title.

Prior to enrolling at Bemidji State, Adell attended Rainy River Junior College in International Falls, MN. Hawks started as a freshman for the Voyaguers amassing 802 yds on the ground with 8 touchdowns and 3 receptions for 98 yards and 1 touchdown and was named Minnesota Community College Conference "Player of the Week" four times. During his sophomore season Adell started at both running back and linebacker.

Neal Sherbyn will join the Riders receiving corps for the 2006 season. Sherbeyn, 5'9", 165 lbs, attended Western State College of Colorado. While playing for the Mountaineers, Neal was named 1st Team All Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wide Receiver in 1993 and '94. Sherbeyn was also a four time national qualifier in track and field participating in the 100, 200, and 400m.

Neal earned a tryout with the Canadian Football League in 1995 and played with the Melbourne Raiders of the Australian Football League in 1996. Sherbeyn played with the Colorado Wildcats of the IPFL in 1998 and signed with the IFL Peoria Pirates in 99. Most recently Neal has been playing with the Peoria, IL based Mid State Steel semi- professional team and was named first team wide receiver the past two seasons in the Midwest Football League.
