
Two Lynx Players Expected to Attend 2022 USA Basketball Women's National Team Training Camp

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - USA Basketball today announced that Minnesota Lynx guards Kayla McBride and Aerial Powers are among 28 players expected to attend the 2022 USA Basketball Women's National Team training camp from Sept. 6-12 in Las Vegas. The three will join Lynx Head Coach and General Manager Cheryl Reeve who is serving as the head coach for the team and Associate Head Coach Katie Smith who will be a court coach.
McBride, 5-11, has been a part of Team USA since earning gold in the 2010 FIBA Americas Championship after compiling a perfect 5-0 record. McBride was one of 16 finalists for the 2014 USA World Championship Team, helping the USA team to a 3-0 record in exhibition games.
Powers, 5-11, will be competing in her second USA Basketball World Cup training camp. In 2015, Powers was a member of the USA Basketball Women's World University Games team who captured a gold medal with a perfect 6-0 record in South Korea.
The other players expected to attend camp this fall include: Ariel Atkins, Shakira Austin, Aliyah Boston, Kahleah Copper, Elena Delle Donne, Diamond DeShields, Stefanie Dolson, Allisha Gray, Chelsea Gray, Dearica Hamby, Myisha Hines-Allen, Natasha Howard, Rhyne Howard, Sabrina Ionescu, Brionna Jones, Betnijah Laney, Jewell Loyd, Angel McCoughtry, Arike Ogunbowale, Kelsey Plum, NaLyssa Smith, Breanna Stewart, Alyssa Thomas, Courtney Williams, A'ja Wilson and Jackie Young. Reeve's coaching staff includes assistant coaches Mike Thibault (Washington Mystics), Kara Lawson (Duke University) and Joni Taylor (Texas A&M), as a well as Curt Miller (Connecticut Sun) who is joining Smith as a court coach for the 2022 World Cup.
The 2022 FIBA World Cup, featuring 12 of the best national teams in the world, is scheduled for Sept. 22-Oct. 1 in Sydney. The USA will look to win its fourth consecutive World Cup dating back to 2010. The 2022 USA Basketball Women's National Team will be announced prior to the start of group play. As part of Group A, the U.S. will start play Sept. 22 vs. Belgium.
Training camp will be highlighted by the 2022 USA Basketball Showcase Presented by Coinbase on Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT at Cox Pavilion on the campus of UNLV.
