Las Vegas Locomotives News Release

LAS VEGAS - Two Las Vegas Locomotives, quarterback Chase Clement and cornerback Marquis Floyd, were each recognized as a "Player of the Week" by the United Football League for their stellar play in the opening week of the season.

To go along with the Locos' 23-17 victory over the Sacramento Mountain Lions, Clement earned Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors, sharing the distinction with Virginia Destroyers running back Dominic Rhodes. The Locos will face Rhodes and the rest of the Destroyers on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. PST.

Against the Mountain Lions on Sept. 17, Clement went 20-for-28 passing for 233 yards, and he also rushed 4 times for 32 yards and a touchdown. His rushing score came on a naked bootleg from three yards out in the first quarter and was the Locos' first touchdown of the new season. Clement also completed a league record 83-yard pass to wide receiver Samie Parker, adding to his UFL record for the longest completion a UFL Championship Game (75 yards, 2010 vs. Florida).

Floyd was named the UFL Defensive Player of the Week in his debut performance for the Locos. The talented corner back had five total tackles, a 35-yard interception return and 2 pass breakups during the victory in Sacramento.

"I was very pleased with the play of our entire team on Saturday, including Chase and Marquis," said Head Coach Jim Fassel. "They both had great performances that helped us get a win on the road, which isn't an easy thing to do."
