Omaha Nighthawks News Release
Omaha, NE - Omaha Nighthawks General Manager Rick Mueller announced Monday that the team has placed quarterback Eric Crouch and linebacker Patrick Thomas on the injured reserve list.
Crouch, who suffered a knee injury in Thursday's season opener, was signed by the Nighthawks this off season and co-started Thursday night's game along with quarterback Jeremiah Masoli. Crouch is the former Heisman winning quarterback out of the University of Nebraska. He was making his return to football with the Nighthawks after two years removed from the game. The Nighthawks will now rely upon quarterbacks Masoli and Troy Smith to lead their offense.
"Eric sustained a knee injury in the opener against Virginia that will require arthroscopic surgery and therefore will be placed on injured reserve," states Mueller. "Eric will continue to be a big part of this football team and will continue to serve as team captain."
Thomas was a member of the Nighthawks defense in their inaugural 2010 season. In 2010 he recorded 46 tackles; 30 solo and 16 assisted. At the culmination of training camp, Thomas was nominated by his teammates and coaches to be a member of the Team Leadership Council. A knee injury in Thursday's game has led him to the injured reserve list
"Pat has worked hard and played well for us," Mueller said. "He has been an integral part of our defense last season as well as 2011."
