Lexington County Blowfish News Release

The Lexington County Blowfish have received two commitments from the South Carolina Gamecocks for 2019. Jordan Holladay and Julian Bosnic are the latest in a long line of Gamecocks to play for the collegiate "boys of summer" in Lexington County.

Jordan Holladay is a sophomore infielder from Sumter, S.C. Jordan is coming off an injury that shortened his 2018 season. During his time at Sumter High School, Jordan helped lead his team to a 2014 state championship and was named All-Region every year at Sumter. According to Perfect Game, Jordan was the #15 rated recruit out of the state of South Carolina in 2017 and the #1 third baseman in the state.

Julian Bosnic is a freshman from Lutz, Florida that will also join the Blowfish this summer. Julian is a pitcher and outfielder who starred at Berkley Prep. He was named a USA Today preseason All-American in 2016 and a Rawlings Perfect Game All-America honorable mention in 2018. According to Perfect Game, Julian was the 2nd ranked left-handed pitcher coming out of Florida in 2018 and the 27th ranked left-handed pitcher in the nation.

"We are thrilled to have Julian and Jordan as a part of the Blowfish family this coming summer," General Manager Theo Bacot stated. "The Blowfish and the University of South Carolina baseball program have had a strong relationship since we joined the Coastal Plain League in 2006 playing at historic Capital City Stadium in Columbia; and we're excited to continue that tradition at The Lex in 2019."

Julian and Jordan indeed join a long list of Gamecocks who have also played for the Blowfish. In total, the Blowfish have had 24 players or coaches with a USC connection over the last 13 years. The list of names includes: Adam Crisp, DeAngelo Mack, Andrew Crisp, Cooper, Jesse Barbaro, Brison Celek, Adam Westmoreland, Scott Wingo, Kyle Martin, Josh Reagan, Matt Williams, Gene Cone, DC Arendas, Hunter Privette, and Tyler Webb. Other Gamecock/Blowfish greats include Madison Stokes, TJ Shook, Parker Coyne, Cam Tringali, Riley Hogan and Patrick Sullivan.

The Blowfish coaching staff has also seen three former Gamecocks lead the team in former head coaches Lee Gronkiewicz and Brian Buscher (who led the Blowfish to a Pettit Cup Championship in 2012.) Buscher was assisted by former Gamecock Jon Coutlangus in 2012.

Bacot noted, "Julian Bosnic and Jordan Holladay are great players who we are excited to watch this spring and who will contribute greatly to our organization both on and off the field in 2019."

The Lexington County Blowfish begin their season on Thursday, May 30th against the Forest City Owls. This will be the 14th season of Blowfish baseball and the 5th season in Lexington County.

The Blowfish are proud members of the Coastal Plain League, which is a premiere summer collegiate league with 16 teams throughout Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.
