Two Former Legends Remain in MLB Postseason

Two former Lexington Legends remain active in Major League Baseball's postseason. Ben Zobrist and Terrance Gore are on the roster for the Kansas City Royals, the Legends' parent club, as the Royals face the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Championship Series.
A shortstop with the Legends, Zobrist has played every position except pitcher and catcher during his major league career. He played in 68 games for Lexington in 2005, when the Legends were affiliated with the Houston Astros. He batted .304 with two home runs and 32 runs batted in for the Legends. Among his Legends teammates in 2005 was San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence. Zobrist and Pence were named to the Legends Hall of Fame in 2009.
Zobrist was traded by Houston to Tampa Bay in 2006 and made his major league debut with the Rays (then the Devil Rays) on August 1 of that year. He appeared in the World Series with Tampa Bay in 2008, and played in at least 146 games for the Rays in each season from 2009 through 2014. He was traded to Oakland in January of 2015 and from Oakland to Kansas City on July 28. He batted .284 with seven home runs in 59 regular season games for the Royals and had six hits in 18 at bats against Houston in the five-game division series.
Gore, known for his outstanding speed, stole 68 bases in 76 attempts for the Legends in 2013. He joined the Royals in September of 2014 and remained on their active roster throughout the postseason. He appeared in one game for Kansas City in the 2014 World Series. Gore spent most of the 2015 season with AA Northwest Arkansas. The Royals recalled him briefly in April, and then again on September 1. He appeared as a pinch runner in one division series game and had a stolen base.
"Following the Royals and two former Legends adds even more excitement to the ALCS," said Legends President and CEO Andy Shea. "Our fans remember Ben Zobrist and Terrance Gore as outstanding people, on and off the field."
Former Legends Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros and Enrique Hernandez of the Los Angeles Dodgers also saw postseason action. Former Legend Matt Duffy was on the Houston roster for the wild card game against the New York Yankees, but did not play.
