
Two former Gamblers headed to Vancouver

(Green Bay, WI) Former Green Bay Gambler forwards Blake Wheeler (04-05) and Tomas Sinisalo (03-04) will be playing for their respected countries at the Under 20 World Championships in Vancouver, British Columbia, December 26 - January 5.
Wheeler, who was selected in the first round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes, will be playing for the United States. The University of Minnesota freshman spent the 2004-05 season with the Gamblers, registering team highs in goals (19), assists (28) and points (47). With the Golden Gophers, Wheeler ranks second, behind fellow U.S. World Junior teammate Phil Kessel, in freshman scoring with 10 points (4g & 6a).
Sinisalo will be playing lacing up the skates for his native Finland. Sinisalo appeared in 22 games with the Gamblers during the 2003-04 season, dishing out three assists. Sinisalo, whose father Ilkka played in the National Hockey League for 11+ years with the Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota North Stars, and Los Angeles Kings, has been playing in Finland with the Espo Blues.
The United States will open up the World Junior Tournament on December 26 as they take on Norway. The red, white, and blue will then play Finland on the 28th, Switzerland on the 30th, and round out preliminary play on the 31st with a game against host Canada.
