CLEVELAND, OHIO- Former Cleveland Force forward Connally Edozien and defender and Brecksville native Mark Schulte have made the jump to Major League Soccer (MLS) as both have been signed to contracts for the 2005 season.
Edozien signed with the New England Revolution on March 31 and is a member of the Revolution's 18-man roster. Connally appeared in four games with the Force this season and tallied seven shots and three blocks. The 27-year old native of London, England joined Cleveland after taking on the Force in two exhibitions games with the Cincinnati Excite of the American Indoor Soccer League (AISL). Edozien did not see action but was dressed for New England's season opener on Saturday versus the San Jose Earthquakes.
Schulte, who last played for the Force during the 2002-03 season, agreed to terms with the Columbus Crew on April 2 after playing the 2004 season for IBV of the Icelandic First Division. Prior to playing in Iceland, Mark spent four years with the Minnesota Thunder in the United Soccer Leagues First Division and one season with Cleveland in the MISL. Schulte appeared in all 90 minutes of the Crew's 3-0 season opening victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy. Mark appeared in 16 games for the Force while tallying two assists and 16 blocks.
