Two Ex-Stamps Part of 2016 Hall of Fame Class

The Calgary Stampeders congratulate the members of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame's 2016 class, including two former members of the Red and White.

The inductees were announced today in Winnipeg.

Linebacker James West started his career with three seasons in Calgary including a 1983 campaign which saw him earn West Division all-star honours. He played a total of 37 games for the Stamps from 1982-84 and recorded 13.5 sacks as well as four interceptions and six fumble recoveries.

West went on to play nine more seasons - eight for Winnipeg and one for BC - and was named a division all-star a total of four times.

Defensive lineman Rodney Harding concluded his 12-year CFL career with one season for the Stamps in 1996. The Oklahoma State product led the Stamps with 10 sacks that season and he also had 16 tackles, six pass knockdowns and one fumble recovery.

Harding played 10 seasons for the Toronto Argonauts before joining the Memphis Mad Dogs in 1995 during the CFL's U.S.-expansion era and then being selected by Calgary in the dispersal draft. He was a seven-time division all-star and recorded 103 career sacks.

Another 2016 inductee with a Calgary connection is defensive lineman Doug Brown, who was drafted fifth overall by the Stampeders in 1997. He started his professional career in the National Football League and his CFL rights were traded to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2001 for a first-round draft pick in 2002 (Jon Oosterhuis) and a third-rounder in 2003 (Mike Labinjo).

In 11 seasons for the Blue Bombers, Brown was named a division all-star eight times and a CFL all-star on seven occasions.

The other inductees will be Derrell (Mookie) Mitchell, a receiver who played 11 years for Toronto and Edmonton including a record-breaking 2,000-yard season for the Argonauts in 1998, and Don McDonald, a long-serving executive with junior football's Saskatoon Hilltops.
