
Two Canadians under contract wit the Alouettes

Montreal, May 3, 2006 - Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp announced today that Ivan Birungi and Nicholas Cameron have each signed contracts for three-year plus an option with the Alouettes.
Ivan Birungi (6'4'', 226 lbs.) is a wide receiver drafted in the fourth round, 32nd overall by the Alouettes in 2006. Born in Swaziland and raised in Ontario, he had an exceptional year with the Acadia Axemen of the CIS last year. He led his team with 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns on 50 receptions. He was named All-Conference in 2004 and 2005, and was the Atlantic division's most outstanding player and Hec Crighton Award nominee last year.
Nicholas Cameron (5'11'', 216 lbs.) is a running back who spent the last five seasons with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. He was a vital part of the Vanier Cup winner Golden Hawks in 2005 and was a strong playoff contributor. He totalled 1,169 yards and eight majors on 208 career playoff carries. The Lindsay, Ontario, native rushed 410 times in his university career for a total of 2,399 yards and 18 touchdowns. In 2004, Cameron had the third-best season for a running back in Golden Hawks history.
The Alouettes begin training camp on May 18 with the opening of rookie camp. The official training camp opening will take place on May 21 at the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
