Twisters Win Again

Arkansas Diamonds News Release

Arkansas continued their winning ways Saturday night against the Central Valley Coyotes. It looked as if Arkansas would have no trouble scoring on the Coyotes after just three plays capped off with a 1 yard touchdown run by Chad Cook.

The Twisters jumped out to an early first quarter lead but the Coyotes stayed right on their heels as both offenses moved the ball up and down the field in the first half. Coyotes QB John Murrietta (10/15, 147 yds. 4 td's) was injured on a roughing the quarterback penalty just before halftime and didn't return.

It was a tale of two halves by the Arkansas defense. In the first half the defense seemed to have breakdowns in coverage's resulting big plays for the Coyotes. The second half you could tell that the Twister defense was determined to turn things around. The Twisters defense combined in the second half to record 4 sacks, one resulting in a safety as back up Coyotes Quarterback Ryan O'Harra took a sack in the end zone on the first possession of the third quarter.

Rod Harper continues to be a shining star at receiver for the Twisters. Harper ended the night with 12 reception for 172 and 5 touchdowns. Harpers five touchdowns brings his total number of touchdowns on the season to 31, 13 shy of the team record of 44, with eight games left in the season. Harper was again named the game's Russell Athletic Player of the Game for his performance.

Arkansas, after a long road trip to the west coast, will take this week off and then back on the road to Corpus Christi for a conference matchup with the Sharks.
