Arkansas Diamonds News Release
The Arkansas Twisters announced Webbie Burnett will join the coaching staff as Defensive Coordinator. He brings a wealth of experience as not only a coach, but a player as well. He's spent the past three years as the Offensive and Defensive lines coach for Macon. The Knights played for the Arena Cup championship last season, losing to Tulsa in the final game. Macon's defense held opponents to just over 230 yards per game.
Burnett knows Arkansas well. Macon played the Twisters twice last season, beating Arkansas each time.
Burnett replaces Willie Fears who left for a similar position with the Orlando Predators of the AFL. Arkansas had the number one ranked defense last season losing to Tulsa in the conference finals of the playoffs.
Burnett is a 10 year veteran of the AFL, playing 115 regular season games and competing for six championships. He played nine years with Orlando and one with Toronto. He was selected as one of the starters for the AFL 15 Year Anniversary All-Time Team.
Webbie has a Bachelor's Degre in Public Relations while attending Western Kentucky and the University of Florida.
