Arkansas Diamonds News Release
(North Little Rock, AR) - The Arkansas Twisters couldn't take advantage of hosting a home game in the first round of the af2 playoffs as Bossier-Shreveport defeated Arkansas 62-40 in front of 4516 fans at Alltel Arena.
Bossier-Shreveport got to Twisters' quarterback Brian Villanueva on the first snap of the game. Elex Reed sacked Villanueva, causing him to fumble the ball and Bossier-Shreveport recovered it at the Twisters' eight yard line. Battle Wings quarterback Quincy Carter found Marc Bacote on the next play to give Bossier-Shreveport a lead they never relinquished.
The Battle Wings scored after a Twisters field goal. Bossier-Shreveport drove 45 yards and scored when Jason Schule ran the ball in three yards. Bossier-Shreveport tacked on a field goal to put the Battle Wings up 17-3 after one quarter.
The Twisters made their move by scoring two unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter. Arkansas drove 38 yards on three plays and scored when Davon Vinson leaped into the endzone for the first Twisters touchdown of the night.
Arkansas tied the game at 17 when Vinson ran for another touchdown from four yards out and the extra point evened it up.

The Battle Wings started the second half by scoring when Jason Schule capped a 24 yard drive to put Bossier-Shreveport back up by 10.
The Battle Wings defense struck again when Reed sacked and caused Villanueva to fumble the football a second time. Bocote picked it up and ran it 11 yards for the touchdown. The extra point put Bossier-Shreveport up 33-17. Arkansas made one last ditch comeback. After pulling within 33-24, the Twisters' defense was looking for a critical third down stop on Bossier-Shreveport's 15 yard line. As Arkansas' defense tipped the pass away, the roar of the home crowd soon turned to moans as P. J. Winston caught the tipped pass behind the defenders and raced 35 yards for the score to put Bossier-Shreveport up 39-24.
The Twisters never recovered from the play as the Battle Wings ran off three more touchdowns to take a 55-24 lead in the fourth quarter and advance to the second round with a final score of 62-40.
