Twin City Falls Short in Shootout to FireAntz, 4-3

February 8, 2009

Winston-Salem, NC

The Cyclones took to the road again on Saturday night to challenge the FireAntz. After a heart-breaking loss to Richmond on Friday night, Twin City came out looking strong, but was unable to hold on for the win.

The Cyclones jumped off to an early lead in the first period, with two unanswered goals (Piro, Tutalo).

However, Fayetteville got on the board in the second period to narrow the gap to 2-1. Marc Lefebvre gave the Cyclones the two-goal lead again early in the third, but the FireAntz answered back to come within one. At 18:18 in the final period, Fayetteville was able to knot the match at three and send the game into overtime. After five minutes of overtime, neither team scored which induced a shootout. Chris Tutalo was the only Cyclone able to get a shot past Chad Collins and all four FireAntz successfully made their shots to give their team the 4-3 victory.
