Tuzzolino assigned to IceGators

Lafayette, LA – The NHL's Minnesota Wild have assigned right wing Tony Tuzzolino to ECHL Louisiana, IceGators head coach and vice president of hockey operations Dave Farrish announced Friday. The 27-year-old Tuzzolino, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., joins a lineup with just eight healthy forwards for tonight's 7:05 game in Pensacola.

Tuzzolino, who had four assists and 23 penalty minutes in 13 games with the AHL's Houston Aeros this season, has appeared in 308 professional games, including nine in the NHL with Anaheim, Boston and the New York Rangers. Tuzzolino has 150 points (49g, 101a) and 547 penalty minutes in his pro career. In the NHL, the Michigan State product had no points and seven penalty minutes.

Last season, the 6-foot-2, 208-pound Tuzzolino played mostly in AHL Providence, having one of the best years of his pro career with 29 points (10g, 19a) and 123 penalty minutes in 59 games. He also played in two games with the Boston Bruins.

The IceGators become Tuzzolino's 11th team in six professional seasons. He last played in the ECHL in the 1999-00 season, recording 19 points (6g, 13a) and 43 penalty minutes in 20 games with Huntington. Tuzzolino was Quebec's fifth-round draft pick (No. 113 overall) in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

Daniel Goneau, another former Ranger, also plays for the IceGators.
