Greensboro Generals News Release

GREENSBORO GENERALS

The Generals defeated the Trenton Titans last night 2-1 at the Coliseum in the first of two straight home games against Trenton. The first 30 minutes of the game went by without a score, but it was Greensboro who drew first blood on the power play. Pete Gardiner gave the Generals a 1-0 lead at 11:24 of the second period and the advantage held up through the end of the period. Shane Campbell gave the Generals a 2-0 lead just 23 seconds into the third period, and it proved to be a critical score. The Titans ruined Daniel Berthiaume's shutout bid 3:09 into the final stanza, but he stopped all 33 other shots he faced to improve his record to 7-1-2 on the season.

TRENTON TITANS

The Titans lost to the Generals 2-1 last night. Despite having seven power play chances and 34 shots on goal, offense was tough to come by. With Trenton down 2-0 early in the third period, they got their only goal of the night from Chris Lynch on assists from Yann Joseph and John Nail. The Titans had a golden opportunity to tie the score in the closing minutes, as they were awarded a power play with just 2:14 left in the contest. However, they were stoned by Generals goaltender Daniel Berthiaume in the final minutes. Trenton netminder Cody Rudkowsky, making his first start for the Titans since opening night, stopped 28 of 30 shots on the evening.
