Tulsa Talons News Release

TULSA - Henry Primeaux, Co-Owner of the af2 Tulsa Talons, proudly announced today the return of Head Coach David Alexander and Offensive Coordinator Mitch Allner. After finishing 11-5 in the regular season, the Talons ended up with a Western Division Championship for their 2005 season.

Alexander, a 41 year-old native of Broken Arrow, Okla., joins the Talons for his second season as Head Coach. Prior to becoming a Head Coach, Alexander was the Talons' General Manager and spent ten years in the National Football League (NFL). Alexander was drafted as a center in the fifth round of the NFL draft. In the NFL (1987-1996), Alexander spent his first eight years with the Philadelphia Eagles and his last two years with the New York Jets. Alexander started 108 consecutive games and never missed one NFL game. He was honored as New York Times All-Pro in 1991. In his NFL career, Alexander was one of few players who had played all five offensive line positions.

A graduate of Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow, Okla., Alexander played college football at the University of Tulsa (Tulsa, Okla.). Alexander graduated from TU with a degree in business and was awarded All-Conference in football for two years. Alexander now resides in Tulsa with his wife, Kathy, and three children (Jake, 14, Kyle, 11 and Cassity, 8). As a coach, Alexander has coached eighth grade Jenks football and one year at Broken Arrow High School. Currently, Alexander serves on the board of National Youth Football and is active in several local youth football teams. Along with coaching, Alexander has run his own construction company, Eagles Custom Homes, for the past six years.

Allner, a 27 year-old from Sioux City, Iowa, joins the Talons for his second season as Offensive Coordinator. Prior to coaching in the af2, Allner served five years in the af2 as a top-ranked player. In five years, Allner played a year with Quad City Steamwheelers and Iowa Barnstormers and three years with the Tulsa Talons. Allner not only created a well-recognized name for himself, but he also set and broke records in the af2.

In the Talons' record book, the name "Allner" is frequently seen. Prior to the 2005 season he held 3 records in the 2004 season game highs, six career records as a Talon, four records in a single season and two records in a single game. In the 2005 af2 record book, Allner was the All-Time af2 Leading Scorer, All-Time af2 First Team OS in 2002, Offensive Player of the Year in 2002, Week 6 Offensive Player of the Week for the League in 2002 and the National Conference All-af2 Second Team WR/LB in 2003. As a coach, Allner was the varsity assistant and sophomore head coach for two years at Sioux City North High School. Once in Tulsa, Allner was the varsity receivers coach at Catoosa High School for one year and the varsity receivers coach for two years at Jenks High School. The past three years, Coach Allner has been the offensive coach for the Jenks 6th grade team. "The coaches coming back will give us the continuity necessary to compete for the league championship," stated Co-Owner Henry Primeaux.
