Tullo, Roadrunners Shutout Thunder

EDINBURG, Texas - Aaron Tullo threw eight scoreless innings as the Edinburg Roadrunners defeated the McAllen Thunder 11-0 Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Tullo (2-0) picked up his second win of the season after scattering three hits and striking out four.

Pascual Del Real gave the Roadrunners (2-0) the lead in the bottom of the second with an RBI single that scored Derek Perren making it 1-0.

Edinburg added to their lead in the bottom of the third. Wilmer Pino hit an RBI single that allowed Stantrel Smith to score. Carlos Hereaud then hit a sacrifice fly that drove in Vincent Blue from third. With Pino at third, Felix Molina hit an RBI groundout that pushed the lead to 4-1.

Barron Short (0-4) lasted two and two-third innings for the Thunder (8-19) and allowed four runs on six hits.

The Roadrunners extended their lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the seventh with four runs on four hits. Hereaud picked up his league leading 26th RBI of the season with an RBI single in the inning.

Molina added to the Edinburg lead with a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth and then Perren followed with an RBI single pushing the lead to 11-0.

Osvaldo Rodriguez pitched a scoreless ninth giving the Roadrunners the 11-0 victory.

The Roadrunners and Thunder will wrap up their four-game series Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Matison Smith (2-2) is expected to face Brian Murphy (1-3) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
