San Angelo Colts News Release

Abilene, Texas --- Former Colt Adam De La Garza hit a walk off RBI single in the bottom of the 14th inning to give the Abilene Prairie Dogs a 3-2 win Wednesday night at Walt Driggers Field.

De La Garza's game-winner scored second baseman Zach Welch, who reached base on a one-out single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and then reached third on a fielders' choice groundout by centerfielder Jason Martin.

Colts' reliever Cory Patton (0-1) surrendered the walk off single, and took the loss. Patton pitched 1 2/3 innings. Starter Jose Sanchez gave up two runs on six hits in six innings of work for the no decision.

The game remained scoreless until the sixth, when Prairie Dogs' third baseman Wilson Batista and first baseman Kyle Nichols each hit solo home runs.

San Angelo followed with a run in the seventh and eighth innings to even the game at two. Both bullpens kept the game tied until De La Garza's walk off RBI single.

Abilene reliever David Slovak (2-0) earned the win by pitching a perfect top of the 14th. Starter Adam Rowe surrendered an unearned on five hits and struck out four through seven innings, but had to settle for the no decision.

The Colts return to Foster Field Thursday night to continue this stretch of eight consecutive games against Abilene. It will be another $1 Beer Night at Foster Field, sponsored by Miller Lite. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and gates open at 6:05 p.m.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
