
Tuesday to be proclaimed Komet Hockey Day in Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne, IN - The 2009 IHL Champion Fort Wayne Komets will be honored Tuesday with a ceremony at the City-County Building Plaza downtown Fort Wayne followed by a parade to the celebration party, jersey auction and festivities at the coliseum.
Tuesday's ceremony will begin at approximately 5:15pm. The ceremony will feature a proclamation from Fort Wayne's mayor Tom Henry who will be joined by Allen County commissioners Linda Bloom, Bill Brown and Nelson Peters along with members of the Fort Wayne Komets.
There will be photo and autograph opportunities for media and fans before the Komets lead a parade to the coliseum for the start of the Turner Cup Championship celebration and Komet jersey auction, scheduled to begin at the Coliseum Expo I at 6:30pm.
Doors open at the Coliseum Expo I at 6pm.
Tickets for the celebration and jersey auction at the coliseum are $5.00 however season ticket holders and all children 11 and under will be admitted free.
Friday, May 8, the Komets defeated the Muskegon Lumberjacks 4-1 at the coliseum to take the best-of-seven 2009 IHL finals series four games to one. It was Fort Wayne's the seventh league title and it's first ever back-to-back IHL Turner Cup championships in the 57-year history of the franchise.
