Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres have their first winning streak in team history after beating Fresno 6-4 Tuesday night. Anthony Rizzo's fourth home run broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fifth, and a strong Tucson bullpen sealed the win. Aaron Poreda, Scott Munter, Luis Perdomo and Evan Scribner each pitched an inning without allowing an earned run, with Scribner picking up his third save.

The bullpen relieved Simon Castro, who earned his first Triple-A win, allowing three runs in five innings. Rizzo went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and is now hitting .436. Logan Forsythe went hitless for the first time this season, going 0-for-4, ending a ten game hitting streak. Everth Cabrera went 2-for-4 for the Padres, raising his average to .328. Emmanuel Burriss hit a leadoff double in the ninth inning for Fresno, but Scribner was able to leave him on base.

The Padres and Fresno now have identical records of 6-8. The clubs are tied for third place, three games behind first place Las Vegas, who lost in extra innings to Salt Lake tonight.

Next Game: Thursday at 7:00 pm - Tucson RHP Jeremy Hefner (0-0) vs. Fresno (Giants affiliate) RHP Andrew Kown (1-1)
