Round Rock Wins Sixth Straight, 6-3 Over RedHawks

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Round Rock Express (11-4) scored each of its final four runs with two out, holding off the Oklahoma City RedHawks (4-10) in a 6-3 final before 3,572 Thursday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.

Round Rock starter Derek Hankins (3-0) allowed three runs and seven hits over seven innings in the winning decision. Oklahoma City starter Fernando Nieve (1-2) allowed five runs and 12 hits over five and two-thirds innings in the losing effort. Yhency Brazoban (1) recorded a two inning save with one walk and four strikeouts.

Round Rock took an early lead against Nieve, scoring two first inning runs. Brian Barden singled in Doug Deeds and later scored on a Luis Cruz single for a 2-0 Express lead.

Oklahoma City cut into the lead in the second inning when Carlos Corporan belted a solo home run to right-centerfield for a 2-1 score. The RedHawks tied the game in the third inning when Oswaldo Navarro singled, moved to third on a base hit and scored on a Tommy Manzella fielder's choice for a 2-2 game.

The Express scored two two-out runs in the fourth inning to regain the lead. Kevin Cash doubled in Joey Butler with two out before an Esteban German single knocked in Cash for a 4-2 Round Rock lead.

The RedHawks added a fifth inning run, as Collin Delome tripled and scored on an Anderson Hernandez single, cutting the Round Rock lead to 4-3.

Round Rock added a fifth inning run on a two-out single by Deeds to plate Joey Butler and an eighth inning two-out run as Barden singled home Cash for a 6-3 score.
