Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC News Release
SEVERANCE, Colo. - Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC (6W-8L-8D, 26 points) fell to FC Tucson (4W-10L-4D, 16 points) 2-1 at Severance High School. Louis Pérez gave Tucson the win with a powerful shot from just inside the area.
Tucson got off the mark first early in the 14th minute. Midfielder Louis Pérez cut into the box and neared the six-yard box. Pérez then picked out a pass across the face of goal to Franco Pérez for the tap in.
Northern Colorado held 60 percent of the possession through the first half but were unable to find their way through the Tucson defense. Entering halftime down at the break.
Tucson doubled their lead in the 70th minute. Louis Pérez got the ball on Tucson's right wing, before cutting back to the inside. With the ball on his left foot, Pérez took aim at the far post and put a powerful strike past Johan Peñaranda.
Lachlan McLean got the Hailstorm back into the game ten minutes later. Wolfgang Prentice picked up his first assist in a Hailstorm uniform, finding McLean with a cross from the endline.
The loss takes Northern Colorado to 6-8-8 on the season. With five of the eight remaining games at home, it is far from over in the USL League One season.
The Hailstorm are back in action on Saturday, August 20, when they play host to Forward Madison FC. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. MDT, at Severance High School in Severance, Colorado.
