Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres scored a season-high nine runs in the second inning and compiled 20 hits Tuesday on way to a 12-1 win over the Round Rock Express at Kino Stadium. The 20 hits were one shy of the team's record that was set in their inaugural game on April 7, 2011 in Colorado Springs. The Padres are now on a five-game winning streak and have won 18 of their last 27 games.

Tucson sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the second, coming up with eight hits including back-to-back two-run hits from James Darnell and Jonathan Galvez. Cody Decker drove in the first run of the inning with a bloop single and brought home the final run of the second with a ground-rule double to center.

After Round Rock scored its first run of the game on Jay Butler's sacrifice fly in the sixth, the Padres responded with three more runs in the bottom half of the inning. Galvez and Decker both had RBIs in the inning and finished the night with three hits and three RBIs apiece. Jesus Merchan also collected three hits in the game for the second consecutive day and Rene Rivera's four hits boosted his average to .402 in 92 at-bats this season.

Wilfredo Boscan earned his first win in Triple-A, tossing five shutout innings without walking a batter. Jake Brigham was charged with the loss, surrendering nine hits and nine runs in 1.2 innings. The Padres do not play Wednesday.
