
Try-Out Camps Scheduled for RailCats

Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
Gary, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club will conduct its annual Try-Out Camp on Tuesday, May 1st starting at 9:00 a.m. at U. S. Steel Yard in Gary. RailCats manager Greg Tagert will oversee the camp.
Players age 18 and above are invited. Players should bring their own glove and spikes. Players may also bring their own wood bats and helmets if they choose. Bats and helmets will be available. Only wood bats will be permitted for use.
Last year, the RailCats signed outfielder Mike Coles after he attended the try-out camp. Coles, a product of Hammond High School and Purdue University, spent the entire season with the RailCats and batted .274 in 74 games.
Meanwhile, as previously announced, the Northern League will conduct its annual league-wide try-out camp and draft April 2-3 at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. All eight Northern League clubs will be represented. More information is available at www.northernleague.com.
