Troy Bruins News Release

Troy, OH - Professional hockey officially returns to Hobart Arena this Saturday night when the Troy Bruins host in-state rival Queen City Storm at 8pm, but the Bruins must first face the Battle Creek Revolution on the road Friday night.

Meeting for the first time in history, the Troy Bruins and Battle Creek Revolution will faceoff on Friday evening at the Revolution Arena at 7pm in the cereal city, with both teams playing in their second AAHL regular season game of the year. An original AAHA/AAHL member entering their third season, the Revolution come into their Friday night home opener winless after last week's tough one goal defeat at the hands of the Queen City Storm. Over the summer, Revs head coach Bobby Clouston rebuilt his club with veteran leadership and experience, producing an aggressive and physical style of play. Of note on the Battle Creek roster is notorious AAHL toughguy Darren Seid, while adding scrapper Matt Kopke from last season's NJHL Wooster Oilers.

For the Bruins, entering their first season in the AAHL, head coach Rick Szabo has built a solid core of talented players from across the country. After opening the regular season by spoiling Lapeer's home opener with a 3-2 win, the Bruins are looking to open their home schedule 2-0 with a win against the Revolution Friday night. Fans wishing to tune into Friday night's broadcast can do so by visiting TroyBruins.com.

It's right back to business for the Bruins, once they return home from Battle Creek it will be time to face the Storm inside the comfy confines of the historic Hobart Arena. Matching up with the Storm for the second time this season, and first in the regular season, after blowing out Queen City in the lone preseason contest. After winning their home opener against Battle Creek, the Storm fell to 1-1 the following night with a tight overtime loss. First year head coach Dwayne Zinger has been busy making additions to his roster after the preseaon loss to Troy, bringing in former Dayton Bomber Mike Looby amongst others to bolster their caliber. Also making their return to Hobart Arena on Saturday night are former Bruins and current Storm Josh Tucker and Tyler Merritt. Both are not expected to receive a warm welcome from the Bruins crowd.

All Bruins general admission tickets are only $8 and can be purchased in advance on TroyBruins.com or at the Hobart Arena box office starting at 6pm on Saturday. Groups of 20 or more can receive an unbeatable rate of only $6 per ticket if bought together. Saturday night's game will also be televised live on MiamiCountyPost.com with the "Voice of the Bruins" JT Szabo handling the call.
