Troy Bruins News Release
Troy, OH - The Troy Bruins professional hockey team, members of the All American Hockey League, are proud to announce that Bruins forward Sean Menton has been called up by the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers, and was in action for their annual midnight holiday game on Monday against Utah at the Orleans Arena. While not registering a point in his Wranglers debut, Menton earned two shots on goal in his new team's 5-3 loss.
Menton, 21, enters his first full professional season with the Bruins and is the first Troy player to move up this year. The native of Monrovia, California has suited up for ten Bruins games so far, earning a goal and three assists and a +2 rating. Prior to joining the Bruins, Menton has seen limited action for the Stockton Thunder, also a member of the ECHL's Western Conference.
The ECHL is the premier "AA" hockey league in North America, featuring 19 teams across the USA and Canada, and is the third longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the "AAA" American Hockey League. Since it's inception in 1989, the ECHL has propelled nearly 500 players to the NHL, and has firmly established itself as the primary developmental league for the AHL and NHL.
The Bruins return to action with a special New Year's Eve road matchup with in-state rival Queen City Storm at the Sports Plus Arena in Evendale, Ohio at 7:30pm. Fans can tune into the live Internet TV broadcast on PostTV by clicking on the "watch live" link on TroyBruins.com starting at 7:25pm.
