Troy Bruins Open Preseason Tonight in Cincinnati
October 20, 2010 - All American Hockey League (AAHL)
Troy Bruins News Release
The Troy Bruins professional hockey team, proud member of the All American Hockey League, are set to open the 2010-2011 Preseason with an exhibition matchup with in-state rival Queen City Storm on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm at the Sports Plus Arena in Evendale, Ohio.
This is the first all-time meeting between the two clubs, both entering their first season in the AAHL, and will be the first real test for both teams to gauge their talent against an opponent in game conditions. While the Bruins are entering their second season on the ice after a successful inaugural season playing in the NJHL, Queen City starts the 2010-2011 campaign as an expansion team, hungry for their first game in club history.
Game time at Queen City is set for 6:30pm, with the Storm offering special $5 tickets at the gate for fans wishing to get their first glimpse at AAHL hockey in Ohio. A number of Troy fans are also expected to make the short hour trek to cheer on the Bruins.
Additionally, Bruins head coach & GM Rick Szabo has announced the roster for Wednesday's preseason contest, featuring one Troy-native (Derek Nova) and two players returning from last season's Bruins squad (Lee McClure & Willie Boyle).
Wednesday's preseason tuneup will be the only exhibition game before the Bruins open up the 2010-2011 AAHL regular season on Friday, October 22 in Lapeer, Michigan against the Lapeer Loggers. Opening Night 2010 is right around the corner, as the Bruins return home to the historic Hobart Arena in Troy to host the Madison IceMuskies on Saturday, October 30 at 8pm. Full season, Group and $8 single-game tickets are on sale now, by visiting the "Tickets' page or by calling the Bruins at 985-PUCK.
