Florida Tropics SC News Release

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Tropics and Utica City FC have announced a trade, swapping forwards Freddy Moojen and Andre Braithwaite.

Moojen's illustrious indoor career began in the 2007-08 season when he scored 34 goals for the Major Indoor Soccer League's New Jersey Ironmen and was named the league's Rookie of the Year.

In two year's plus with the Tropics, Moojen, who will turn 36 next month scored 44 goals in 44 games, serving both as a captain and assistant coach. In his 12 years indoors, has 180 goals in 186 games.

"Freddy was exactly the right person and right veteran player when we launched the Tropics. His skills are obvious, but his work off the floor with our younger players has been invaluable," Florida Coach Clay Roberts said. "He knows the indoor game so well. It was a difficult decision to trade him, but we wanted to get a little younger, and Utica is getting what might very well be the final piece of the puzzle. We think both sides get players that will fit in perfectly to what each is looking for."

Braithwaite, 27, is a big target forward at 6'-2 and spent three years with the Kansas City Comets before being acquired by Utica City FC via trade in the past offseason. With the Comets, he had 28 goals in 46 games, including 18 goals in 16 games during the 2014-15 season.

Both Braitwaite and recently acquired Antonio Manfut will dress Saturday for the Tropics next home game. The Tropics will host the Milwaukee Wave (1/19), and the St. Louis Ambush (1/26, Star Wars Night) on Saturday January 26th. For tickets and more information, go to www.fltropics.com.
