Rancho Cucamonga, CA-- The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes came from behind to beat the Lake Elsinore Storm for the second straight night, winning 4-2 on Wednesday night at LoanMart Field.
Brandon Trinkwon went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including knocking in the winning runs in the seventh inning,
Lake Elsinore scored both of their runs in the first inning. Luis Urias swatted an RBI single and Ty France followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 Storm after a half inning of play.
Rancho cut the lead in the half in the bottom of the first, making it 2-1 after Trinkwon hit an RBI.
In the sixth inning, the Quakes tied the game at 2-2. With one out, Will Smith lined a base hit to left field, scoring Matt Beaty who led off the frame with a walk.
In the bottom of the seventh, Rancho grabbed their first lead of the night. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Trinkwon ripped a single back up the middle to plate two, giving Rancho a 4-2 lead and the win.
Rob Rogers (1-1) picks up the win for Rancho Cucamonga after tossing two scoreless innings. Adam Bray started the game and had his best outing of the season. He allowed just two unearned runs on five hits in a season-high six innings pitched.
Gerardo Reyes (0-3) took the loss for Lake Elsinore, after allowing three earned runs in his one inning of work, walking three. Dylan Stoops made his professional debut and started the game. He went five innings and allowed just one earned run on six hits, striking out eight.
The Quakes (32-27, 74-55) continue their series with the Storm on Thursday for the finale in the three-game set. Rancho will send right-hander Tim Shibuya (2-0, 2.41 ERA) to the mound, while Lake Elsinore will send Padres major league rehabber Tyson Ross to the mound. He started Opening Day for the Padres, but has not pitched since after being placed on the DL with shoulder inflammation.
