Laureano Named Cal League Postseason All Star

LANCASTER, Calif. - Former JetHawks outfielder Ramon Laureano was named one of three outfielders on the California League Postseason All Star Team, the league announced Wednesday.

Laureano, 22, hit .317 with 10 home runs, 60 RBI and 33 stolen bases in 80 games before being promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi on July 20. His .426 OBP at the time of his promotion still leads the California League.

Since his promotion, the Astros 16th round pick in 2014 out of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M is slashing .318/.434/.614 in 26 games for the first place Hooks. He has hit five home runs and driven in 11 in the Texas League.

The Cal League's top awards went to Lake Elsinore's Luis Urias (MVP and Rookie of the Year), Rancho Cucamonga's Josh Sborz (Pitcher of the Year) and High Desert's Howard Johnson (Manager of the Year).

A.J. Reed, now in the big leagues with the Astros, was named MVP and Rookie of the Year last season with the JetHawks.
