Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- Members of the Tri-Vision Sports, LLC management group met with MetroCentre officials on Saturday to continue their negotiations with respect to the future of the Rockford IceHogs.
The parties are discussing a public/private partnership, which is a cutting edge community development model being used throughout the country to address projects that are sometimes difficult to complete using government or private sector resources alone.
The public/private partnership is focused on consolidating the operations of both the MetroCentre and Tri-Vision Sports, LLC in a way that avoids duplication of effort and expense, and maximizes the ability of Tri-Vision's hockey operations to help repay the projected MetroCentre renovation costs.
Tri-Vision Sports, LLC is focused on maintaining their current operating principles for the team, and ensuring that it continues to have a key role in the management and growth of the IceHogs. MetroCentre officials are focused on ensuring that any partnership that is created has long-term stability and provides a financially responsible model for continued operations of the MetroCentre.
Many options are on the table, and the parties are still working on the details. All parties are optimistic, and negotiations will continue throughout the week.
Next Home Game: Saturday, Jan. 13 vs. Quad City Mallards. The rivalry resumes at 7:05 p.m. Rockford and Quad City clash at the Rockford MetroCentre once again. Saturday is one of the IceHogs most popular giveaway nights as Wireless One, WXRX-104.9 FM and WIFR present Hat Night for the first 1,000 fans to the MetroCentre.
