
PrairieThunder skates past Port Huron

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Six different players found the net Saturday night as the Bloomington PrairieThunder registered a 6-5 victory over Port Huron before 4,502 people, the second-largest crowd in franchise and U.S. Cellular Coliseum history.
The PrairieThunder trailed 3-2 after one period as Colt King, Trevor Edwards and Bobby Kukulka scored for Port Huron. Bloomington's first period goals came from B.J. Gaustad off assists y Trevor Baker and Mike Zbriger on a power play.
The second PrairieThunder score came from Shawn Roed off assists by John Spoltore and Gaustad with 3:16 remaining in the period.
Bloomington exploded for four goals in the second period to take a commanding 6-3 advantage. Jarad Bourassa started the scoring with a goal 49 seconds into the period off an assist by Alex Goupil, who added a power play goal 4 minutes, 30 seconds later off assists by Bourassa and Zbriger.
Tyler Rennette scored a power play goal at the 13:11 mark off an assist by Goupil. Tim Schneider then scored his third goal in the last three games off Zbriger's third assist of the game with 12:03 left in the game.
Port Huron made it interesting with two late goals by Jeremy Tucker and T.J. Sakaluk, but Bloomington goalie Jeff Reynaert held on for his eighth win of the season as the PrairieThunder hiked its record to 11-24-2.
Reynaert had 20 saves on 25 attempts. The PrairieThunder had 41 shots and was successful on 3 of 12 power play opportunities. Bloomington killed nine of 10 Port Huron power plays.
The PrairieThunder returns to action today at 4:05 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Coliseum with a Western Conference matchup against Quad City.
