Tri-City ValleyCats Announce 2009 Schedule

TROY, NY -- The Tri-City ValleyCats, Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros, have officially announced the team's 2009 New York-Penn League regular season schedule. The 'Cats will open the season on the road on Friday, June 19 against Stedler Division rival Oneonta. The ValleyCats return home the next day, Saturday, June 20, for the 2009 home-opener against the Oneonta Tigers at 7:00 pm.
Game times will remain at 7:00 pm Monday through Saturday with a 5:00 pm start on Sundays. The ValleyCats will host two day games with 11:00 AM starts on Monday, July 6 against Brooklyn and Thursday, August 6 versus Mahoning Valley.
The home schedule features 38 games including matchups against the New York Yankees affiliate, Staten Island (August 21 & August 28-29) and the New York Mets affiliate, Brooklyn Cyclones (July 4-6).
The ValleyCats are coming off a remarkable 2008 season in which the club eclipsed the organization's attendance record for a fifth consecutive season., drawing 140,631 fans through the gates of Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The attendance record included a single-game mark of 6,630 fans for the Fourth of July matchup with the Jamestown Jammers.
