Tri-Cities Fever announce signings of Vandals

Kennewick WA. – The Tri-Cities Fever of the National Indoor Football League are proud to announce the signings of Jason Cobb and Matt Martinez, both out of the University of Idaho.

Jason Cobb is a 6'4", 305-lbs. offensive lineman and a graduate of Kennewick High School where he was a first-team all-conference choice in 1997 and 1998. He earned recognition on the Tri-City Herald's all-area team as a senior and was a second-team choice to the newspaper's team as a junior. Cobb was a captain as a senior and a four-year member of the Honor Roll.

Cobb graduated from University of Idaho in 2003 with a degree in Communications where he was a 3-year letterman and started in 36 consecutive games for the Vandals.

Head Coach Tom Cable was quoted as saying "He's a guy you can hang your hat on with an offensive line and a guy you can build around in terms of his ability to go out and dominate certain opponents."

Also signing was Matt Martinez, the 6'2", 305 lbs. offensive lineman and graduate of Wenatchee High School where he was captain of both the football and wrestling teams. He earned all-state recognition in his junior and senior year as a defensive lineman and as an offensive lineman in his senior year. He earned all Big-9 recognition at both positions.

Martinez attended the University of Idaho where he graduated in May of 2004 with a degree in Communications. He made the watch lists for the Outland and Rimington trophies, which go to the nations most outstanding center and interior lineman, in both his junior and senior years.

Coach Cable was quoted as saying, "When you look at what matters to you as a coach, specific to offensive linemen, Matt has that. He's a tough, smart, very competitive guy."
