Trey Johnson Returns to Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, March 15, 2012 - The Bakersfield Jam have acquired Jam returning player Trey Johnson, the team announced today.
Most recently, Johnson (guard, 6-5, 215) played for the New Orleans Hornets, appearing in 11 games this season, posting averages of 1.9 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.4 assists.
As a member of the Bakersfield Jam during the 2010-11 campaign, Johnson was the NBA D-League's leading scorer, averaging 25.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 39 games. Johnson scored in double figures in all but one game with the Jam including a, league-wide season-best, 48-point performance against Erie on March 18, 2011.
Johnson earned two GATORADE Call-Ups last year, spending time with the Toronto Raptors in January before finishing the season with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he helped the team reach the 2nd round of the NBA playoffs. Johnson also received a GATORADE Call-Up to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008-09. Johnson has also played professionally in Serbia, France & Italy.
Johnson averaged 25.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in two collegiate seasons at Jackson State. In 2006-07, Johnson was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and his 27.1 points per game that season led the nation.
Johnson will wear #15 and be available immediately, replacing guard Mustapha Farrakhan, who has been waived due to an injury.
The current roster now stands at 10 players.
