Rochester, Minn.- The Rochester Honkers announced today that Trevor Hairgrove will return as the team's Field Manager for the 2017 season. The last time a Honkers' Field Manager returned for three seasons was Greg Labbe in 2005-2007.

"I'm very privileged to be returning for a 3rd season with the Honkers," said Hairgrove. "I know last year was not pleasant and the record showed, but I learned so much more and feel we have found the right combination to make a deep run into August this summer."

The 2016 Honkers finished with a 20-52 mark, 7-28 in the first half and 13-24 in the second. They ranked fifth in the Northwoods League with 49 home runs. In Hairgrove's first season of 2015, he led the Honkers to a 39-33 overall record and the team's first post-season appearance since 2010.

"Having a solid first year and not a good second year has shown me what I can and can't do as a head coach," said Hairgrove. "You can't learn or get better without failing."

Prior to coaching, Hairgrove played his entire collegiate career at UC Riverside where he was the team's starting shortstop all four years. In 2011, He was drafted in the 18th round by the Los Angeles Angels on Anaheim. Hairgrove spent the next three years moving his way up from Rookie Ball with the Orem Owlz to the Angels AA Affiliate, the Arkansas Travelers. In 2012 he became a utility player for the Cedar Rapids Kernals, making at least one start at every position except centerfield and catcher.

"I am looking forward to May and getting this season started with another new group of outstanding players," added Hairgrove. "Our goal is to bring a championship back to Rochester. Asking for anything less is just asking for failure."

The Rochester Honkers 24th season will be in 2017 and you can get your season tickets now! You'll receive 10% off for signing up now and paying in full by December 31, 2016.
