
Trela Finds Perfect Fit with Commitment to St. Lawrence

Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Bulls announced, Wednesday morning, that veteran forward Nick Trela has committed to continue his hockey career at Division I St. Lawrence of ECAC Hockey.
Trela, a Trenton, Michigan native, is in his second season in a Bulls sweater, playing in 100 NAHL games during the stint, including 13 postseason appearances during Amarillo's 2019 Robertson Cup Play
offs campaign. Through his 38 games this season, the team's alternate captain has recorded 29 points on 10 goals and 19 assists.
"I knew in my heart it was the right choice," said Trela, after accepting the offer. "The coaching staff is turning the program around and creating a new culture, and that's something I want to be a part of. The academics are second to none, and I know thi s opportunity will be great for setting myself up for success in life. I would like to thank Coach Russo and Coach Lewis for helping me development and my family for always supporting me ."
Prior to the start of the 2019-2020 season, Trela joined Head Coach Rocky Russo as Amarillo's representatives on Team NAHL at the 2019 Sirius Junior Club World Cup in Russia.
"We are very proud of Nick and excited for him and his family," said Russo. "Nick is an excellent hockey player and an even better person and teammate. He is going to be a tremendous addition to Coach Brekke's program both on the ice and in the classroom. Nick's work ethic, compete level, and attention to detail will assure that he is successful at the next level and beyond."
The Bulls remain at home, i n the Budweiser Bull Pen, on Friday, February 7, to take on the Topeka Pilots. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:05PM CST on 107.1 Nash Icon and Hockey TV.
