February 25, 2005 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Trax News Release
This Sunday, your Macon Trax will take on the Barracudas from Jacksonville starting at 4:05pm at the Centreplex. Immediately following that contest the Henry County Blades of the Georgia Student High School league will take to the ice to face off with a team from Dacula, GA. The Henry County Blades team is comprised of high school players from Henry County, Jones County and Houston County. This will be the first ever high school hockey game to be played at the Centreplex. Your ticket to the Trax game allows you to stay for the second half of the âdouble header'. Come see what the Georgia Student High School Hockey League has to offer.
This Sunday's game is also Cox Communications Customer Appreciation â where Cox customers can receive two for one ticket specials.
SPHL â SHERWOOD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The SPHL announced on Wednesday the Sherwood "PLAYER OF THE WEEK" was our very own #55 David Deeves. The Barrie, Ontario native broke a 2-2 deadlock with a pair of third period goals versus the Fayetteville FireAntz to secure the win on Feb. 19th.
TRAX â POSITION FOR THE PLAY-OFFS
The Trax are currently tied with the Columbus Cottonmouths for fourth place in the SPHL with 48 points. The Trax 48 points puts the team only 6 points out of second place and 10 points behind for first. With 11 games remaining in the regular season and with a race this close, every win is important.
Stay tuned for the play-off schedule and ticket information as it will become available once the regular season has concluded and play-off positions have been confirmed. The top six Teams qualify for the play-offs.
TRAX GOALIE ON LOAN
Macon Trax goalie Mark Cairns has headed out west to play with the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL. Mark was needed to fill in the spot vacated by Chris Madden, a former Macon goalie who was called up to Providence of the AHL. Sean Varriale has been signed as Trax Emergency back-up and will be wearing jersey #31 during Cairns' absence.
