Trax finish season as runner-ups
April 19, 2004 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Trax News Release
Sadly the off season is here. We all have to count down until hockey returns. In six months the Trax will look to continue where they left off. The 2003-04 season saw the Trax set some high standards for the future.
For the first time in history Macon's hockey team made it to the league championships. The league named the Trax the "Organization of the Year" and "Team Humanitarian Award", for their work in the community. They had the "Coach of the Year" in Tommy Stewart a rookie coach. David Deeves was named the "Most Valuable Player" in just his second season. For all his work in the community Ryan Rivard was given the "WHA2 Humanitarian Award." Finally, the All-Star game saw Steve Zoryk have a five point night and take home the All-Star Game MVP.
This summer will be very different than the last few in the Heart of Georgia. For the first time in three years fans have been told before the season ended, there will be hockey back at the Centreplex in the fall.
If all that is not enough, David Waronker has called a press conference at 1pm on Wednesday, April, 21 in Orlando. Announcements are expected to be made about league expansion and changes to make the next season better than this season.
Overall, the Trax would like to thank all their fans and corporate partners that helped make Macon Hockey a success in 2003-04. We hope everyone enjoyed their relationship with the players and staff so much that they will return for the 2004-05 season.
During the long months of the summer, everyone is always invited to stop by the Trax office and say hi to the staff that will be working hard to make sure plans for next season run smoothly. As always, feel free to call, email, or come in to the office with any questions you may have.
Season tickets and corporate packages are now available for the 2004-05 season. Call the Trax office at 478-742-4849 for further information on the different packages available.
