February 6, 2004 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Trax News Release
[Macon, Ga.]âMacon Trax Head Coach Tommy Stewart shook up his roster today by releasing Trax Captain Jeff Antonovich and adding defenseman Kelvin Solari.
Solari, 29, is a seasoned veteran who will bring a lot of size to the Trax blue line. The 6', 210-pounder brings with him over 300 games of professional hockey experience.
The majority of Solari's professional career was spent in the Western Professional Hockey League with the Monroe Moccasins and Corpus-Christi Icerays. From 1998-2001, the Sudbury, Ont., Canada native played in 149 games scoring 62 points (31G, 31A) and amassing 509 penalty minutes.
"This move will help our physical play in our own end." Stewart said. "Kelvin is a veteran who should provide additional leadership when we need it."
Solari arrived in Macon this week and will be in uniform when the Trax travel to Alabama Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7. He will wear number twenty.
To make room for Solari, the Trax have waived forward Jeff Antonovich. The former Trax captain played in 28 games scoring 25 points (11G, 14A), collecting 75 penalty minutes and was a -2.
For the time being Stewart will not have an official team captain. Defenseman Benoit Cotnoir has been given the title of Assistant Captain. Cotnoir is the third "A" the Trax have as Steve Zoryk and Luke Murphy were named Assistant Captains at the beginning of the season.
