Travs Come up Just Short in Title Series Opener

North Little Rock, AR - A ninth inning rally came up just short for the Arkansas Travelers as the Amarillo Sod Poodles took game one of the Texas League Championship Series by a 3-2 final score. The Travs had the tying and winning runs on base when the Sod Poodles turned a spectacular double play that was just in time at first base to end the game. Connor Hoover had cut it to a one-run game in the ninth inning with an RBI single, the Travs first hit since the third inning. Arkansas was limited to three hits total in the game and committed three errors. Jake Rice earned the win out of the bullpen with Christian Montes de Oca collecting a six out save. Kyle Tyler was tagged with the loss.

Moments That Mattered

* Amarillo took the lead in the fourth inning, scoring on a double by Deyvison De Los Santos and then on an error with two out.

* Arkansas had an opportunity to tie or take the lead in the fifth after loading the bases on three straight one out walks. However, the next two Travelers batters struck out to end the threat.

* 1B Tyler Locklear: 1-3, BB, run, HR, RBI

* LHP Jorge Benitez: 2 IP, H, 2 K

News and Notes

* Arkansas left eight runners on base and was just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

* Benitez has thrown 4.2 scoreless innings over three appearances in four postseason games.
