Travelers Trounce Naturals

SPRINGDALE, AR- The Travelers used a five-run fifth inning to defeat the Naturals 8-2 on Wednesday night at Arvest Ballpark. The loss was the seventh straight for the Naturals.

The Naturals took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Alex McClure led off the inning with his first triple of the year. He went on to score on an RBI single from Yem Prades to make it 1-0.

The Travelers (39-56) took used a five run fifth inning to grab the lead back. Darwin Perez delivered one of the big hits with a two-run double, and Renny Osuna blasted a two-run home run, his second of the season to make it a 5-1 game.

The Naturals(42-53) cut the lead back to three picking up a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ray Navarro plated Prades on a ground out to second base to make it a 5-2. The Travelers tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh and one in the top of the eighth inning to put the game out of reach, making it 8-2.

Michael Mariot (3-3) went six innings allowing eight hits and five runs, while walking one and striking out three. His counterpart AJ Schugel (5-7) went five and two-thirds innings allowing seven hits and two runs.

The Naturals continue their four-game series at home against the Arkansas Travelers on Tuesday at 7:05 PM. They will send left-hander Mike Montgomery (0-1, 7.50) to the mound against the Travelers right-hander Ariel Pena (5-5, 2.92). The game can be heard on ESPN 92.1 The Ticket.
