Danbury Trashers News Release
DANBURY, CTâWinning on the road in Muskegon proved far more difficult for the Trashers in the Colonial Cup Semifinals when compared to Danbury's overtime road successes in games one and two vs. Adirondack in the opening round.
A pair of losses, 4-1 and 3-2, with the latter in overtime sent the Trashers back to the Danbury Ice Arena down 2-0 in the series and with their backs to the wall. Danbury needs to win at least two of three games this week in order to shift the series back to Michigan for a game six that would take place next Monday night.
Meanwhile, Danbury is hosting games three and four of the semifinal series along with game five if necessary this week starting on Wednesday night at 7:30. Friday's face-off is also at 7:30 and Saturday's start time will be at 7pm. Tickets are now available and all seats are priced at $15.00 each. They are available online at DanburyTrashers.com, by calling 866-565-7825 ext. 116 or in person at the Danbury Ice Arena.
The Danbury Trashers team shop is open on Monday from Noon-6pm, Tuesday-Friday from Noon-7pm, Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday's from Noon-5pm. For more information, please visit DanburyTrashers.com.
TRASHERS PLAYOFF WEEK IN REVIEW
BOUCHARD NETS TWO TO LIFT FURY OVER DANBURY IN OVERTIME--TAKE 2-0 LEAD IN SERIES OVER TRASHERS
April 30, 2005
MUSKEGON, MIâRobin Bouchard's 2nd goal of the evening came at the 4:53 mark of the first overtime and it lifted the Fury to a 3-2 overtime win at the L.C. Walker Arena to give them a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Colonial Cup Semifinals on Saturday night.
After a Michael Rupp goal was waved off in the first period because of a high stick knocking the puck in the net, the Fury took a 1-0 lead on Bouchard's first goal at the 9:20 mark from Brant Blackned and B.J. Gaustad.
Frank Belanger's second playoff goal tied the score at 1-1 at the 5:34 mark of the second period as he scored on the power play from Mario Larocque and John Morlang, but the Fury struck back with their first power play goal of the series as Jeff Nelson beat Scott Stirling with a wrister from the slot to give Muskegon a 2-1 lead after the second period.
Danbury tied the score at 2-2 just 30 seconds into the final period of regulation as Doug Christiansen beat Sly Daigle with a backhanded shot for his second playoff goal from Geno Parrish and Jeff Daw.
Daigle stopped 24 of 26 shots in the game while Stirling turned aside 31 of 34 in the loss.
2ND PERIOD FURY FLURRY LEADS TO 4-1 MUSKEGON WIN OVER DANBURY
April 29, 2005
MUSKEGON, MIâTodd Robinson, Scott Hollis and Rustyn Dolyny scored three goals just 1:25 apart for the Fury in the 2nd period to take a 1-1 tie and open up a 4-1 lead over the Trashers, eventually winning by the same score to take a 1-0 series advantage over Danbury in the best-of-seven Colonial Cup Semifinals on Friday night.
Nicholas Bilotto's first playoff goal opened up a 1-0 lead for the Trashers as he converted on the power play on assists from Geno Parrish and Bruce Richardson at the 3:43 mark of the first period, but it would be the only goal for Danbury in the contest.
Muskegon tied the game in the 2nd period as Robin Bouchard dumped in a rebound past Scott Stirling at the 7:18 mark of the 2nd period before the Fury scored three times in quick succession later in the period.
Robinson finished with one goal and one assist while Jeff Nelson earned the number one star of the game with a pair of assists. Sylvain Daigle stopped 25 of 26 Danbury shots while Stirling saved 29 of 33 in the loss for Danbury.
