Trashers defeat RiverDogs 6-3

RICHMOND, VA - A pair of goals from Drew Omicioli and a four-goal run lifted the Danbury Trashers to a 6-3 victory over the Richmond RiverDogs before a crowd of 3,816. D. Omicioli got the first goal of the night at 5:03 of the first period. Richmond would go out in front with a pair of goals 0:50 apart as Mike Oliveira tallied his 41st goal of the season on the power play at 4:39 and Bill Vandermeer at 5:29 of the second period. Danbury tied it up on a power play goal coming from Dave MacIsaac at 12:16. The RiverDogs went up 3-2 on a John DiPace marker at 15:46. Mike Omicioli tied the game at 3-3 with less than three minutes remaining in the second period. Danbury came out in the third period by scoring three un-answered goals on tallies from D.Omicioli, David Hymovitz and Ryan Barnes to end the game 6-3. The RiverDogs played well despite being several men short due to injury. With the loss, Richmond's record stands at 25-23-5, 55 points and ninth overall in UHL standings, one point behind Quad City who lost tonight.

Mike Oliveira continues his steady play as he tied Dave Hymovitz single season record of 41 goals, which was set last season. He now has a six game goal-scoring streak to go along his 21 game point scoring streak. Joey Bastien, with his assist in tonight's game, now has points in his last 10 contests.

The RiverDogs return home tomorrow night at 7:35 pm when the boys play host to the Roanoke Valley Vipers. Immediately following the game, the RiverDogs board the bus for a one game road trip to Glen Falls, NY to face the Adirondack Frostbite on Sunday, February 27th.
