Training Camp Opens Wednesday

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club will unofficially begin the 2009/2010 OHL season just under a week from today - on Wednesday, August 26 - when registration takes place for Training Camp 2009. The opening day of camp will see 53 Greyhound hopefuls arrive in Sault Ste. Marie and take part in off-ice testing before hitting the ice for the first time Thursday morning.

With the large number of players competing for positions, three teams have been created for the beginning of camp. Here are all three team rosters and the week's itinerary:

TEAM RED

Goalies - Bryce O'Hagan, Michael Boike

Defence - Jacob Muzzin, Brandon Archibald, Matthew Fuller, Beau Orser, James Bruin, Marcus Quinlan

Forwards - Jordan Carroll, Michael Fine, Trevor Morbeck, Jamie Haines, Carson Dubchak, James Livingston, Chad Thibodeau, Ryan MacLean, Andrew Shutt, Adam Fares

TEAM BLACK

Goalies - Robin Lehner, Paul Orlando

Defence - Dylan King, Cameron Odam, Mike MacIntyre, Patrick Volpe, Corey Jackson, Jeff Vanzant

Forwards - Jordan Nolan, Daniel Catenacci, Brendan Childerley, Michael Iacocca, Tyler McGee, TJ Battani, Michael Borkowski, Nicholas Romano, Josh Pitt, Tyler Crawford

TEAM WHITE

Goalies - Ben Hogan, Ryan McDonald

Defence - Michael Quesnele, Brock Beukeboom, Marshall Fox, David Mead, Ryan Sproul

Forwards - Tomas Rachunek, Brett Thompson, Kyle DeCoste, Vern Cooper, Nick Cousins, Jake Carrick, Justin Thomas, Brian Bunnett, Dave McCaig, Philip Teri

THURSDAY, AUGUST 27, 2009

9:00-9:45 a.m. Team Red Practice

10:00-11:30 a.m. Team Black -vs- Team White Scrimmage

5:00-5:45 p.m. Team Black Practice

6:00-7:30 p.m. Team Red -vs- Team White Scrimmage

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2009

9:00 a.m. Team White Practice

10:00-11:30 a.m. Team Red -vs- Team Black Scrimmage

5:00-5:45 p.m. 3rd Place Team Practice

6:00-7:30 p.m. 1st place -vs- 2nd place Scimmage

SATURDAY, AUSUGT 29, 2009

** following Friday team's will be re-organized for Annual Red & White Game

10:00 a.m. Team Red Practcie

11:00 a.m. Team Black Practice

6:00 p.m. Annual Red & White Game

Following camp the locals will begin regular on-ice practices in preparation for their first exhibition game on Tuesday, September 1st vs Sudbury. It will be the first of three games versus the Wolves this pre-season while the remaining two games will see a I-75 showdown take place with the Saginaw Spirit.
