Training camp begins Monday

WORCESTER, MA- Worcester IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations Larry Pleau today announced that the club will officially begin their American Hockey League (AHL) training camp on Monday, September 27th at the St. Louis Mills in Hazelwood, Missouri. This will mark the start of the ‘Cats 11th campaign in the AHL.

The IceCats camp roster currently consists of 33 contracted and tryout players. The St. Louis-based camp will run from September 27th to October 1st, consisting of two morning practices followed by intrasquad games in the evening. The IceCats will then return to Massachusetts to begin the Worcester-based camp and the exhibition season.

The ‘Cats first preseason game will be held at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, against the Lowell Lock Monsters on Saturday, October 2nd. Proceeds from the 7:30 PM faceoff will benefit the Ali Pierce Foundation. The IceCats will skate against the Lock Monsters in Billerica the following afternoon at 4:00 PM

After a Wednesday, October 6th game in Cromwell, Connecticut against the Hartford Wolf Pack, Worcester will welcome the Albany River Rats on Friday the 8th. The clubs will faceoff at the Hart Center on the campus of Holy Cross at 7:00 PM. The ‘Cats wrap-up the preseason with a trip to Bethlehem, NY, for a 7:00 PM game against the same River Rats.

The IceCats home opening game for the 2004-2005 season is Saturday, October 16th at 7:05 PM against the Springfield Falcons. Season ticket packages are on sale now at the IceCats offices, located at 105 Commercial Street in downtown Worcester.
